Enrichment Center

Purpose-Built for Adults with IDD

The Enrichment Center at Journey21 was created to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities by offering a variety of programs, classes, and social opportunities in a setting that is both accessible and inspiring.

Opened in 2023, the 10,000-square-foot facility provides a consistent environment where participants can learn new skills, stay active, and spend time with others who share their interests.

What the Space Offers

The building includes a wide range of features that support hands-on learning, wellness, and community-building:

  • Multipurpose room for fitness, games, and gatherings
  • Fitness studio for movement classes and stretching
  • Art and music rooms for creative expression
  • Teaching kitchen and café space for shared meals and life skills
  • Lounge areas, patio, and firepit for casual connection and outdoor enjoyment
  • Conference and meeting spaces for small group instruction and events

These spaces are designed to feel welcoming and flexible so that participants can engage at their own pace and in their own way.

Daily Life at the Center

Participants come to the Enrichment Center for a variety of reasons—some are enrolled in structured programs, others attend clubs, and many take part in seasonal or one-day events. Programs often focus on:

  • Life skills and daily routines
  • Social development and peer interaction
  • Creative expression through art, music, or movement
  • Health and wellness habits
  • Community outings and special events

The schedule balances structure and variety so that participants experience a steady rhythm without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.

Designed to Meet a Real Need

Journey21 developed the Enrichment Center in response to the lack of inclusive, multi-use spaces available to adults with IDD in the region. The facility also serves as a place for collaboration with community partners, nonprofits, schools, and service providers who share the goal of increasing opportunity and connection for people with disabilities.
